Experience and Education
My passion for supporting mental health and well being as a licensed professional counselor and educator has manifested in multiple ways over the past 30+ years. In addition to providing individual, couple, family and group counseling, I have taught, been a guidance counselor, supervised staff, mentored students, and developed educational and therapeutic programs for high schools, colleges and treatment centers.
I’ve enjoyed collaborating on published research studies relating to mental health and human behavior. School and community presentations and workshops helped to educate students, parents, teachers, and the public on a variety of topics relating to my specialty areas listed under Services.
I also spent many rewarding summers as a wilderness instructor, course director and staff trainer for Outward Bound Schools in Colorado and Costa Rica. Challenge and discovery through outdoor adventure and experiential learning provided transformative experiences for diverse groups of teens, adults, and professionals.

Personal Information
I grew up on a farm as part of a blended family in upstate NY near Saratoga Springs. I spent many of my summers at the Jersey shore. After some turbulent adolescent years and wanting to expand my horizons, I left NY, ending up in Boulder, CO. I fell in love with our mountain environment and still enjoy exploring the wilderness, hiking, camping, rock climbing, skiing, and riding horses. Connecting to nature feeds my soul.
Overcoming my earlier traumas and navigating life challenges with the support of compassionate and wise mentors inspired me to “pay it forward” by providing service, education and healing for others. As Confusious said, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” My passions and professional path became entwined.
I currently live in Black Forest, CO with my husband, our 2 rescued dogs, and my Rocky Mountain horse who has been my equine assistant at times. We have two adult sons. I love to travel and immerse myself in other cultures to expand my understanding of the larger world we live in. I’m an avid reader, researcher, enjoy writing and consider myself to be a lifelong learner.
In 2013, we lost our home during the devastating Black Forest wildfire. We have since rebuilt and moved beyond that traumatic time. A beautiful aspen grove and view of “America’s Mountain” now replace the loss of the majestic pines.
Although the sun will shine again even after the most ferocious storms, it helps to have someone you trust to be your beacon, compassionately guiding you through those stormy times. I would be honored to support you on your journey.
